The role of parents in a Christian education is “primary [and] irreplaceable.”1 The Bishops at Vatican II wrote: “Parents are the ones who must create a family atmosphere by love and respect for God and man, in which the well-rounded personal and social education of children is fostered. Hence the family is the first school of the social virtues that every society needs.
Noting the preeminent place of family life in education, therefore, we commit to the school and to the community that our prayer and work as a BLR family will be to serve a Christ-centered partnership that fosters in children the Saints, Scholars, and Leaders we hope for them to one day become.
We will pray daily for our children, their teachers, classmates, and the entire school community.
We will keep the Sabbath day holy, actively participating in the sacramental life of our parish and school or, according to denomination, in the Christian mission of our church.
We will support the school’s Catholic identity by being open to Christ, striving to honor our school’s mission and core values in speech and action.
We will support our teachers’ sacrifices by prioritizing academic effort at home, helping our children with structure and organization that helps their learning to flourish, limiting their screen time, and talking with my child’s teachers when we need their support.
We will do our best to attend parent meetings, Back-to-School Night, parent-teacher conferences, performances, and family faith events, honoring relationship as a core value.
We will support the school in its policies and procedures, recognizing that these practices help shape our children’s character and virtue.
We will resolve conflicts with kindness, doing our best to avoid gossip or public criticism of others whom we recognize – even in disagreement – are on mission with us.
We will embrace the principle of stewardship by volunteering at least twenty hours each year, earning our PAWS points at school-sponsored events and activities, and
We will contribute financially as we are able through tuition, the annual fund, and fundraising efforts, understanding that every gift strengthens Catholic education for us and for all.
